Science Week

During Science week our young people experimented with the many ways to measure time! This included both sand timers and water clocks!

Chinese New Year

To celebrate Chinese New Year, our specilaist teachers planned lessons that were specifically made to help our young people learn all about the origin of Chinese New Year. This included Maths lanterns, English paper dragons and much more.

Today we experimented with making dots at Addenbrooke's using Pom poms, cotton buds and paint brushes. We also experimented with mixing different colours together. Our dot pictures are in gold frames just like Vashti's!

International Dot Day

Friday September 15th - International Dot Day is celebrated by both adults and children all around the world as a way of boosting confidence and encouraging creativity, through observing this holiday, people can learn the power of creativity and how just one small dot can make a huge impact on the world around them.

Today we experimented with making dots at Addenbrooke's using Pom poms, cotton buds and paint brushes. We also experimented with mixing different colours together. Our dot pictures are in gold frames just like Vashti's!

National Doodle Day

What is Doodle Day? Every year, a selection of famous faces from the worlds of art, sport and entertainment pick up their pens, paints and pencils to create one off doodles. These doodles are auctioned off to the highest bidder following a 3 day eBay auction and the money is donated to Epilepsy Action.

World Mental Health Day

October 10th is #worldmentalhealthday with a specific focus on 'mental health being a universal human right.'  As a Rights Respecting School, we believe that every young person should be aware of their rights and be empowered to advocate for themselves.

We asked our young people 'If you had to tell the world one thing about mental health what would it be?'
Below are some of their responses:
' Mental health is in the name, it's not physical health. Just because someone might look fine on the outside, it doesn't mean they are on the inside. People don't choose to struggle with mental health.'
' Mental health still needs a lot of awareness and focus as around the globe it's not really talked about. Its highly important that we all look after our mental health and ask others if we are struggling.'

Our young people also made their own bookmarks with the focus on Zones of Regulation!

Thank you to all our young people for engaging in this and being willing to share their views about mental health more widely.
